The BC Research Libraries Group is proud to present

Brian Bell - Director, AlouetteCanada

We are pleased to welcome Brian Bell, Director of AlouetteCanada to speak on the goals, strategy and structure of this open digitatization initiative. AlouetteCanada was formed to create, disseminate, preserve and sustain the knowledge base of Canadian memory organizations in digital form, for the benefit of all Canadians. Learn how AlouetteCanada is working towards meeting these goals, the progress to date and how libraries and institutions across Canada are getting involved.

About Brian Bell
Brian Bell, recently appointed Director, AlouetteCanada, is on a 1-year secondment from the Oakville Public Library where he has been Director of E-Services since 1987. In addition to his new appointment, Brian is on the planning committee for the Canadian Digital Information Strategy (Library and Archives Canada) and on the Board for Canadiana.org.

At home, Brian works closely with colleagues in HALINET (the HALton Information NETwork), a consortium of neighbouring libraries facilitating collaborative, web-based services including digitization of local images and newspapers. Brian was presented the W.J. Robertson Medallion for Public Librarian of the Year at this year’s Ontario Library Association Super Conference.
